On 17th May, the family and friends of Isabel McEgan have fundraised to fund a whole day of care today at Claire House on her 25th birthday.

Mum Amanda says: “Her life was filled with fun, laughter, kindness and friendship.”

Izzy was working as a Counsellor at Camp America in Summer 2019 when she was diagnosed with cancer and returned home to Merseyside for treatment.

“Claire House provided Izzy with support, counselling, treats, therapies and hydrotherapy during her treatment. As the end came, they provided palliative care that allowed Izzy to stay with us in her own bed, pain free. They continue to support us and Izzy’s memory.”

Izzy achieved so much in her life, progressing from Rainbows and Brownies through to Guides and Girlguiding and on her 18th birthday in 2018, was presented with her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award at Buckingham Palace.

“Izzy had her own life plan – in fact, after she died, it was discovered pinned to the back of her wardrobe door, outlining her goals. Sadly, many remain unfulfilled, but the biggest, “Always Be Happy”, was certainly met.”

Thank you to everyone who has fundraised for Claire House in Izzy’s name, raising over £60,000.
