Claire House Children’s Hospice have received a £2,600 donation from a local school, following its closure.
The Lyndale School, in Eastham, have donated left over fundraising money, after their two-year-long battle to keep the school from closure failed.
Parents, children, staff and supporters fought to save the school since Wirral’s ruling cabinet voted in favour of closure in September 2014.
Despite their efforts the school has been forced to close its doors this month.
The Friends of Lyndale spent months raising money for their legal fight, but with the fight now over the remaining £10,000 is being put to good use.
The children were bought Chester Zoo passes, as well as any equipment they need to take with them to their future schools. The remaining money has been donated to Claire House.
Christine Brie – whose nine-year-old son Alex attended Lyndale, said: “Most of the children who come to Lyndale also go to Claire House. It’s a charity that does a lot for our children, so we knew the children would benefit.
Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life.
Claire House fundraiser Avril Parr said: ” At Claire House we know how special Lyndale School is to our families. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everybody at Lyndale for their continued support.
“Even though sadly the school has closed, the money they’ve donated mean children who spent many happy times there, can continue to create wonderful memories here at Claire House.”
