Claire House Children’s Hospice supported John and his family when life couldn’t get any tougher, thats why he’ll be running for Claire House in the London Marathon.
“Following the very tragic, sudden loss of our daughter Emily in November 2013 aged just 21 months, we were offered the use of one of the beautiful Butterfly Suites at Claire House in the lead up to her funeral. This made the whole trauma of losing Emily a little easier to cope with and meant that family and close friends could come and say their goodbyes in pleasant surroundings. Claire House will always be very close to our hearts and to be given the opportunity to raise more funds by running my 4th London Marathon is a huge honour.
“During my training, I have found that it’s sometimes the shorter runs that are the most difficult. With the longer runs you tend to prepare better mentally because you know you’re out for a while. I’ve learnt that running in the wind and rain in the dark is never fun!
“I’m most excited to see the massive crowds lining the route; it’s incredible and they really do spur you on when you need that extra nudge. Realising that you are helping such an amazing charity also gives you such a boost.”
