CORONAVIRUS UPDATE JANUARY 5TH, 2021
In the light of the recent Covid-19 announcements and local restrictions coming into place (for Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales) we would like to reassure the families who use our services that the hospice remains open and is a Covid-19 SAFE environment.
Dear families
We felt it was important to update you quickly as to the current situation at the hospice in the light of the announcements made by the prime minister. We are committed to trying to operate as many services as we can, whilst keeping children, families and staff safe, following government guidance.
All of our hospice services are classed as essential under the current guidance and we plan to continue our services either face to face or virtually. However we recognise and respect that each and every family will respond differently to this new lockdown.
We will be contacting any families that have any planned in house respite, day-care or therapy sessions over the coming weeks to see if you wish to pursue such sessions. If you know now that you wish to cancel please can you contact us asap and we will look how you wish to access support over the coming weeks.
We will also have to take account of the rapidly rising cases of Covid in our community, and the impact of school closures which will have both a direct and indirect impact on our staffing levels. Our priority will always be to ensure that all care is safe and high quality and if we do not have enough skilled nurses and other staff, we may have to reduce or suspend some aspects of our planned services.
As throughout this pandemic Claire House remains a covid secure environment and we always follow the correct guidance around infection control. In addition I am pleased to inform you that from the week commencing 11/1/21 we will be proactively swabbing visitors and all staff on a weekly basis and a small number of the care team have had their first vaccination.
Once again we find ourselves in challenging and difficult times but the roll out of the vaccination programme will eventually provide a way back to ‘normal’ way of life sometime later this year.
We will keep you updated with any changes but please do not hesitate to contact the hospice teams if you have any concerns or questions.
