Claire House hosted its annual Carols and Candles event at Christ Church, Port Sunlight on Tuesday 4th December, raising £7,589.68 for the hospice. The evening was sponsored by Bradshaw, Farnham and Lea and was hosted by BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent, who spoke about the charity’s appeal to reach every dying child in our community.
The evening featured the beautiful singing of the Vale of Clwyd Singers and a selection of festive readings, read by, amongst others, hospice nurse Clare Doig and Andrew Duffy, who has been supported by Claire House.
Andrew (pictured with Sally Nugent, Rob Farnham of Bradshaw, Farnham & Lea and Claire House CEO David Pastor) is a regular reader at Carols and Candles and has recently graduated with a First in Comedy Writing & Performance and has a HNC in Acting. The hospice was a home from home for Andrew from the age of fourteen, until he was twenty-three.
Event Fundraiser Rachel Handley said: “Carols and Candles is one of our most special events of year, and we are so grateful to hold it in the beautiful Christ Church in Port Sunlight. Hearing the gorgeous Vale of Clwyd Singers by candlelight and listening to the very festive readings really gets you in the Christmas spirit.
“The event was a sell out, raising vital funds for the hospice, and we really want to thank everyone who attended. We want to thank Bradshaw, Farnham and Lea for their incredible support, and also Bells Lewers, who sings as part of the Vale of Clwyd Singers and helps us organise the event. At Claire House, we feel that Christmas has officially started now!”
