This year Claire House launched the Butterfly Bake, which was focused on encouraging the local community to simply bake Butterfly cakes and biscuits and hold a bake sale to support the end of life care that the hospice provides.
As a charity, we are there for any baby, child or young adult in our community at the end of their life, and we offer support either at our hospice or in their home.
The end of life care at Claire House is called Butterfly support as the butterfly is seen as a symbol of something which is beautiful yet fragile.
In 2018, Claire House looked after 85 local families who lost a child but we know that there are many more children that we need to support, and by taking part in the Butterfly Bake, the local community can help Claire House be there for every dying child in the future.
Throughout March, there were lots of Butterfly Bakes taking place in schools, churches, offices and homes, and we estimate that around £8,000 has been raised.
Every March will be Butterfly Bake Month at Claire House, and it is a great opportunity for everyone to bake, buy a slice and change lives for local families.
Claire House wishes to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who took part this March. We look forward to seeing the next lot of cakes and bakes in future Butterfly Bakes.
