Do you have a passion for music and singing? Have you got experience in facilitating a choir or holding a music/singing group session? Are you a fun-loving person who has a passion for helping others? Then, this might be the perfect volunteer role for you!
Purpose of the Role:
We’re looking for a Volunteer Singing Group Facilitator to hold a very special singing group for our Claire House mums. Our families are faced with some of the most difficult experiences and by volunteering you’ll be giving them the opportunity to release emotions, in a way that could lift their mood and offer them a sense of belonging and connection. It’s not about performance or singing in front of an audience, just purely for therapeutic benefit!
Main Tasks:
Working alongside our team of fully qualified counsellors, you’ll attend and hold the group singing session (approximately one hour in length), collaborate with the group to encourage them to sing and harmonise together and support the group’s emotional needs by selecting empowering lyrics.
Attributes and Competencies:
We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills and experience in facilitating a choir or holding a music/singing group session. Most importantly, a volunteer will need to be empathic and sensitive to others whilst also having a sense of fun. Experience playing a musical instrument would be desirable, but not essential.
Requirements:
Volunteers only need to be able to commit to one session a month which will take place on a weekday morning (availability can be discussed further with the Family Support Team). Due to the nature of this role, potential volunteers will be asked to complete a two-stage interview process, a DBS check, attend training and provide two references.
