During these difficult times, it’s more important than ever before to keep in touch! That’s why we’re launching our brand new Volunteer Befriender role to help us stay connected with our amazing volunteers.
As a Volunteer Befriender you’ll help us to stay in contact with volunteers and provide a friendly voice and listening ear. You’ll check in with a group of volunteers to see how they’re getting on and if there’s anything we can do to support them.
This role can be done at your own pace (whenever suits you best) and from the comfort of your own home. Simply schedule the calls at a time that fits around your own schedule and let us know how you got on afterwards.
We will provide tailored guidance and support for this role and volunteers will have the opportunity to debrief after each session. Signposting will also be offered to those who feel they may benefit from additional support.
This is a short-term role and very flexible. You can do it as a one-off volunteering session or choose to provide ongoing support. So, it’s perfect if you’re looking to put a few spare hours to good use and have a caring and friendly nature!
You will need to be confident using the phone and have a polite and professional manner. You will also need to adhere to all confidentiality rules and use the resources provided to you in an appropriate manner. Volunteers will be required to use their own phone to make calls.
Two references are required for this role. These can be from friends, neighbours or colleagues (anyone excluding relatives). Please provide email addresses for your selected referees as this will help to speed up the recruitment process.
If you are an existing volunteer who would like to do this role, please email volunteering@clairehouse.org.uk.
