Enjoy having a good laugh? Up for fun? We’re looking for someone to be our wonderful mascot Claire Bear! You’ll be attending a variety of different events and community visits to give our supporters a very special thank you.
You will be shown how to get into the Bear suit by a member of staff before the visit and then it’s a role of your own – have fun with it! Wave, dance, be silly!
You may be asked to go to a visit on your own, or another volunteer or member of staff will attend with you. You will be informed of this before you opt in for the visit. You will be required to make your own way to and from the visit and may need to collect Claire Bear from the Wirral office and drop her back off. We offer reasonable travel expenses.
How does it work?
We have a WhatsApp group with all of our Claire Bear volunteers in where visit opportunities will be posted and you can reply if you are free for the job! (If you don’t have WhatsApp, don’t worry we can do this another way).
We will then send you as much information as possible about where to go, who will be there to greet you, what to do when you are there etc.
Attributes and Requirements
We’re looking for a energetic, fun-loving and enthusiastic person – happy, friendly and always smiling! Claire Bear doesn’t speak so it’s strictly a non-speaking role.
You’ll need to keep the head on for short periods of time, so be mindful that you should be okay with enclosed spaces. You’ll also need to have good movement as the shoes can make it more difficult to walk.
Times
These visits will take place on an ad-hoc basis, so it’s great if you’re looking for something flexible.
Training
On receiving your application, we’ll get in touch to discuss the role further and answer any questions you may have. Don’t worry, you’ll receive full training on the do’s and don’ts of being such a famous and fabulous Bear!
COVID Safety
We ask all volunteers and supporters to be mindful of symptoms and not to attend if they are feeling poorly.. Claire Bear’s head will provide a substantial face covering too!
