Claire House Children’s Hospice held its annual Strictly competition on Saturday 7 April at The Rum Warehouse, Liverpool, raising over £47,000 to support local families.
The 2018 Glitterball trophy was won by Vikki Whitfield from Wallasey, who danced the ‘cha cha cha’ with professional dance partner Christopher Millward.
Champion Vikki said: “I have always had a passion for dancing and look forward to Strictly on TV every year. It was brilliant to be able to dance for such a worthy cause and contribute to the ongoing support for seriously and terminally ill children and their families.”
Claire House does Strictly began in 2015, with local people practicing a dance routine over eight weeks with a professional dance school, Cadmans, with the aim to perform on the night and raise money for their local children’s hospice.
Claire House Event Fundraiser Rachel Handley said: “Claire House does Strictly is such a great event – incredible people have the opportunity to do something unique for their local children’s hospice, and so much money is raised for the children and young adults that Claire House supports. Each dancer that took part this year has been on a real journey and performed so amazingly on the night.
Claire House does Strictly is not only a culmination of all their hard work, but it’s also a great night for everyone that was in the room. And more importantly, so much money has been raised for Claire House to continue doing vital work in the community. Claire House hopes to one day raise enough money to build a new hospice in Liverpool and provide care from two sites, and events like Claire House does Strictly are the perfect opportunity for the community to get involved and support us.”
